Bald & Beautiful Day
Bald and Beautiful is a day of Fun, Pampering and Wellbeing for adults – Men and Women – with Cancer, held annually in Newcastle in May of each year. We have received an award!
History
Bald and Beautiful Founder, Judith Taylor was helping her mother through her own cancer journey in Newcastle. During regular visits to the Mater Hospital, Judith recognised that while patients were receiving great care from a medical perspective, there was a gap in terms of well being. Often feeling isolated and unwell, Cancer patients then have to deal with the experience of hair loss.
Based on the concept of Camp Quality for children and Canteen for Teens, it was decided that adults also need Fun, Pampering and Wellbeing. Bald and Beautiful Day was born in Newcastle in May 2005 with small a team of pampering therapists and entertainers. The day was made possible by the generosity of the community, with their services, their time, their products, their skills and their gifts.
Since 2006, the Rotary Club of Newcastle Sunrise has championed the event with planning, event participation, and ongoing financial support.

I am just home from a most fantastic day at the 5th Bald and Beautiful day in Newcastle. I now have lovely manicured nails to match my outfit, eye shadow to go crazy for - with mascara- wow and a hair do to die for, whoops wrong word. I have been cancer free for 6 years and I feel great. What a lovely day I have had today, together with a busload of delightful people from our little river/seaside village called Tea Gardens. We have had a day full of love, laughter and friendship. Thank you so much to all the volunteers and organizers.

Just a note to say how much I enjoyed the 5th Bald & Beautiful Day in Newcastle last Wednesday. I hadn't been before, but will definitely go again. What a great idea and it made us all very 'special' ladies for the day.
